A Stanley Cup crack after the Panthers win? What the Hockey Hall of Fame said.

MIAMI — Everybody’s injured in some way at the end of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Even, as it turned out Tuesday, the Stanley Cup itself.
Actually, the Cup survived the playoffs, which ended with the Panthers’ 5-1 whipping of the Edmonton Oilers that gave the Panthers a 4-2 series win and their second straight championship. But, the Cup didn’t survive the celebration. Cameras caught a crack in the bowl.
Now, the Cup is tough. You don’t survive 132 years in the hockey world being soft. It has been left by the side of the road. It has been at the bottom of a pool. It’s been dented.
“Unfortunately, it happened last night after the team photo and as the families were led on to the ice,” a Hockey Hall of Fame spokesperson said. “The Cup Keepers are taking the appropriate steps and plan to have it repaired by the parade.”
