Gadgets: Robot pool cleaner
Published in Science & Technology News
I enjoy cleaning my pool, but I enjoy it even more when I don’t have to, and it looks spotless. After using the Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra for the past few months, I actually find pool cleaning relaxing. I can honestly say my pool has never been cleaner, and the best part is that I can sit back on my lounge chair and let the robot do the work.
This hands-free robot cleans from the floor to the waterline while climbing and cleaning the walls to reach between areas. Thus, I actually find it relaxing as I sit poolside watching it in action.
Aiper touts the Scuba V3 Ultra as the flagship step-up model from the previous one, expanding on features that include cognitive AI to adapt its cleaning route. This technology allows it to target debris across the pool floor, walls and waterline. Within the app, you can choose to have the cleaner focus on specific areas, whether that means staying on the floor, climbing the walls or doing a combination of both, making it a truly all-in-one robotic pool cleaner.
The Scuba V3 Ultra also adds a chlorine chamber and ultrasonic sensing. It has dual-camera AI vision and Aiper’s JellyFloat buoyancy system. JellyFloat enables vertical movement, obstacle recovery and stable surface cleaning by the Scuba V3 Ultra. It also automatically rises to the surface once cleaning is complete, making the robotic cleaner easy to retrieve.
Aiper specifications list it as working with pools up to 3,875 square feet, with up to a 66-foot length, and with surfaces including concrete, fiberglass, vinyl and stone. Shallow areas as low as 7.9 inches deep can be cleaned.
Nothing seems to be too much for the robotic cleaner: leaves, sticks, stones and even a few live critters couldn’t get away. It is listed to recognize more than 20 types of debris and obstacles. A 3.5-liter top-sided micro-mesh ultra-fine basket is easy to open to clean out captured debris.
Ten adaptive cleaning paths allow it to adjust to the pool's shape to maximize coverage. Depending on your settings, it will run for up to 480 minutes before being put into the included AC charging cradle. It weighs 28.8 pounds and has a flow rate of 8,500 gallons per hour.
As with everything else in the current technology landscape, AI drives the success of the Aiper Scuba V3 Ultra robotic pool cleaner. Once the dual-camera AI Vision system detects debris in its cleaning patch, the cleaner slows as it approaches to prevent it from being scattered by water movement.
The Cognitive AI Navium mode can automatically generate weekly cleaning schedules based on needs. This includes incorporating previous cleaning patterns and local weather forecasts.
The Aiper companion app serves as your control center.

If you use an iPad as a computer, Satechi’s On-The-Go foldable stand hub is a must-have accessory. The travel-friendly portable hub, compared in size to a slice of bread by Satechi, sets up in seconds, if that fast, and supplies a full suite of ports.
First and foremost, it's a stand to use your tablet hands-free, along with a pass-through 100-watt power delivery USB-C port to power it. A single HDMI port supports a second display. The stand aspect folds open and closes with a durable hinge. A non-magnetic universal grip keeps your tablet secured in place.
Other ports on the backside of the space-black stand include a 10 Gbps USB-A port and an additional USB-C port at 10 Gbps. On the side is a pair of memory card readers; UHS-II SD 4.0 and microSD 4.0, which provide transfer speeds up to 312 MBs.
Satechi's specifications list the On-The-Go foldable stand as compatible with iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini (2021 and later). The Satechi site has a full list of compatible devices including MacBooks, iPhones and Windows devices.
A feature for compatible Samsung smartphones states that the stand will enable DeX Mode, unlocking a desktop-style experience on an external display for a productive workstation.
The 4.3-by-4.3-by-0.75-inch stand includes a 6.69-inch built-in USB-C cable. A 3.5mm audio jack port is on the opposite side of the card readers for both input and output.
