Do Just One Thing
It’s estimated a family of four can save up to $56 a week if they prevent food waste in the home. The trick is to create a list on your phone to help you shop smartly at the grocery store. Start by looking in your fridge, freezer and pantry to know what you already have. Then plan a week’s worth of meals and buy what you need for that. Buying bulk perishables only works if you use them all up, so stock up on items that have a long shelf life instead. And be realistic: Do you eat out more than you cook at home? If so, buy fewer groceries.
