Prolific soap opera actor Robert Kelker-Kelly is dead at 62.
Police in Missouri said in their report that the daytime star died Saturday in his St. Peters home around 8:16 p.m. First responders were told that Kelker-Kelly was unconscious and not breathing as they rushed to the scene.
“Mr. Kelly had reportedly complained of chest pain shortly before becoming unresponsive, and the circumstances appeared consistent with a medical event,” police said.
His body was released by the Medical Examiner to a local funeral home.
The Wichita native played Bo Brady on nearly 600 episodes of “Days of Our Lives” between 1992 and 1996, according to IMDb. He also appeared on NBC’s “Another World” more than 430 times as characters Sam Fowler, Bobby Reno and Shane Roberts from 1987 to 1998.
“General Hospital” viewers knew Kelker-Kelly as the villainous Stavros Cassadine. He played that role from 2001 to 2014.
IMDb said he was employed as a flight instructor before his death.
Kelker-Kelly’s personal life also played out like a soap opera after his former “Days of Our Lives” costar Lisa Rinna accused him of being a manipulative colleague in her “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It” memoir released in February.
“He made my life a living hell on the set of ‘Days.’ He was horrible to me,” she alleged in an excerpt reported on by People. “I’d go so far as to say verbally abusive. He was passive-aggressive, manipulative and played weird mind games.”
Kelker-Kelly didn’t address that report. The pair were Soap Opera Digest’s 1995 award for Hottest Soap Couple. Kelker-Kelly was named that publication’s Outstanding Lead Actor award in 1994.
He confessed in a 1996 interview NBC interview that he could see working outside of show business someday.
“I’d love to teach acting, teach English or be independently wealthy,” Kelker-Kelly said.
That’s also where he admitted to getting kicked out of high school and failing most of his classes at Wichita State University before stepping away from academia.
Kelker-Kelly married his “Days of Our Lives” costar Miriam Parrish in 1997. They divorced in 2013. He was married to producer Linda Rattner from 1988 to 1992, according to People. She worked on “Another World” in 1987 and 1988.
