NEW YORK — Offset was being sued by a Detroit casino for thousands of dollars when he was shot outside a different casino in Florida earlier this week, according to a report.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, The MotorCity Casino Hotel alleged the former Migos rapper obtained a credit line of $100,000 with the casino in March 2024 so he could continue gambling throughout the night. It further claimed the casino reached out to Offset in a bid to settle his debt, but it was unable to get in touch with him.

At that point, it attempted to withdraw the agreed-upon amount directly from his account — but the transaction failed due to insufficient funds, according to the complaint.

MotorCity Casino Hotel is now suing Offset for breach of contract, fraud and related claims. They filed suit against the 34-year-old rapper on March 30, a week before he was shot and wounded in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. He was hospitalized in stable condition after the shooting Monday night, and was “being closely monitored,” the Seminole Police Department said at the time.

Two people, including rapper Lil Tjay, were taken into custody at the scene.

Police have said Lil Tjay instigated a confrontation with Offset and his entourage in the lead-up to the gunfire. He was allegedly seen on security video exiting his car and pointing out Offset to his group of friends before heading in their direction at around 7:22 p.m., according to an affidavit

At one point during the subsequent brawl, one of Lil Tjay’s associates allegedly pulled out a gun, then shot and wounded Offset.

A Bronx native born Tione Jayden Merritt, Lil Tjay was briefly jailed on suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray before he was released on $500 bond.

The second person detained was not identified and no charges have yet been announced.
